Clumping: 3 stars Clumps, but either crumbles during scooping or gets stuck to the litter pan or liner. Odor control: 3 stars Urine odor control is fair; Odor control is not immediate when the cats do their other business though. The control effect lasts only about a week with two cats (even though I scoop at least twice a day), then I have to change out the litter completely. Upside though is that there is no heavy perfume/fragrance in this product - just smells like fresh pine when the bags is first opened. Tracking control: 1 star The fine sawdust like litter sticks to the cats’ paws and fur. I’m finding litter everywhere even though the cats walk over two mats after getting out of the litter box. Dust control: 3 stars The product doesn’t claim it’s dust free; There is no dust cloud like you see with clay or some crystal litters when poured. However, if you have sensitive skin, the fine sawdust that might become airborne and come in contact with you while pouring might irritate your skin. I notice my skin itching after I pour the litter into the pan. Fortunately in my case the itching goes away right after I wash the skin with soap and water. I can see how this product might not be suitable for people with certain allergies. Overall rating: 2.5, but had to round up to 3 stars For those who have tried the pine pellets and didn’t like how the pellets break down after a while will not like this version of the pine litter. On the other hand, if tracking is not an issue for you and you don’t have sensitive skin, this litter offers a better alternative to clay litters for you and your cats’ respiratory wellness. I, however, will be continuing my search for that illusive “perfect” litter.

I have been trying to switch my cats to the original feline pine litter (the pellets). My one cat has upper respiratory problems and I have been trying to find a natural litter that works well for him. He hasn’t taken to the pellets right off the bat so I bought this litter to help switch him over. This litter is terrible! Yes it smells nice like the original feline pine. It doesn’t clump very well. It is too fine and to light/soft in texture. It clings to the cats very easily. I also have a large cat and because of the lightness of the litter when exiting the box yesturday he stepped on the edge and he managed to tip over the litter box!!! On himself!! The other reviewer also mentioned loose stools. I have been trying to figure out why both of my cats have been having loose stools lately? This may be the culprit. I cannot rave enough about the original feline pine though! If your cat can get used to the pellets it is absolutely wonderful litter!!!!

I bought one at the local pet store for around $20.00. My cat really likes it and uses it all the time. I tried it out myself one cold winter night and it kept me snuggly warm - just needed it to be bigger! Later, I found the exact same item for $5.00 at Walgreen’s and scooped up two more. Now I have my very own and I gave one to my elderly mother who is always cold…
