Coolaroo Pet Bed

Coolaroo Pet Bed
When it’s sweltering outside, you wouldn’t lie down on the hot cement or walk around barefoot — and neither should your loving canine. Coolaroo Pet Bed is made from a breathable knitted fabric that allows air to circulate underneath it so your dog can rest comfortably above ground and stay cool when temperatures soar. Great for large dogs that tend to overheat in the summer. Resists mold, mildew and insect and bacterial infestation. Washes clean with a squirt from the hose. Simple assembly. USA. Choose from the following: Medium (43 3/8″L x 25 5/8″W x 7 7/8″D; 13 lbs.) Large (51 1/8″L x 311/2″W x 7 7/8″D; 16 lbs.)

Customer Review: Great Dog Cot
We just purchased this cot in large. Our dog weighs approximately 90 pounds and just loves it. He had a similar one when he was a puppy and when we moved we gave it away. He falls asleep on this for hours! We had a problem with one of the legs and they shipped us another within 2-3 days. We are very happy with this product. We had another brand that just fell apart in the legs but this one is strong.

Customer Review: Great for Arthritic Dogs, too!
Although this product advertises the coolness aspect, I’ve found it to be a great bed for my 16-year-old (that’s 95 to you and me) Soft-Coated Wheaten Terrier. The Coolaroo pet bed is essentially a cot, about 7 inches off the ground. It comes in three sizes; for our 40-lb. dog, I got the medium size, which allows Teddy to lay comfortably on his side, stretched out.

The cot takes pressure off the dog’s joints by providing a springy base. I’ve paired it with a egg-foam crate bed, on top, and put slip-proof material between the Coolaroo and the egg foam, so Ted doesn’t slip around. The cot material is a bit slippery for an old dog to handle, and the material will sag under his feet, as if he’s on a trampoline. Even Teddy has little trouble getting on and off of it. For a younger dog, I’d put a regular pet bed on top of it for indoor or outdoor use. In hot weather, I’d use it by itself outdoors. In cold weather indoors, I’d put a blanket or pet bed on it.

I put the bed together in minutes with one flat-head screwdriver and a friend. It does require two people to assemble the bed; to prevent twisting during assembly, assemble it on a flat surface, in position (upright, as it would sit when assembled). The helper will need to hold down the frame while the last screw goes in. Some users on other sites have reported twisting of the frame during assembly. It does tend to twist when you put the last screw in, so be careful and keep it flat while you tighten the last screw. Also, ensure that the threads on the last screw go in straight.

After “forcibly” laying the dog on the bed the first time, Teddy has taken to it well. he uses it nightly, and often during the day (at 95, he sleeps a lot).

This product has spared us sleeplessness, however. Ted used to get up hourly every night just to pace, as if it was painful for him to lay on the hard floor for extended periods, even with thick pillow-beds or blankets. I can tell he is more comfortable on the Coolaroo, because he snores again in this bed, and sleeps for hours.

This product is easy to put together, reasonably priced, and easily accommodates a 40-pound dog. The Coolaroo keeps the pet off the hot or cold floor, and supports an old dog comfortably. I use this product indoors.

API 970 20-Inch Diameter Heated Bird Bath with Metal Stand
This heated bath lets you enjoy watching backyard songbirds all year `round. A built-in thermostat and 150 watts of power prevent their watering fountain from becoming a skating pond, even on the coldest days. Completely hidden from surface view, the heating element automatically keeps water temperature between 40 and 50 degrees Fahrenheit. The bowl is also specially designed to attract and encourage birds to land. A textured surface and shaped rim allow a bird’s talons to easily grasp and perch, while the gradual slope promotes bathing. Crack-proof even in subzero conditions, the bowl measures 20 inches in diameter by 2 inches deep. It comes with a sturdy, 30-inch-high metal stand and 15-inch power cord. (The bird bath can also mount on a wooden deck railing.) Made in the USA, this item is covered by a three-year guarantee.

Customer Review: Had to duct tape together
The screws to hold legs together did not work so had to use duct tape. It held together ok then. Only problem is, no birds have used it. Not sure why. Maybe they get enough water from the snow.
Customer Review: Fun (for the birds) bird bath
The API 970 20 inch birdbath has been a giant hit with the birds. The water does need to be changed almost daily because the patrons don’t exercise proper spa sanitary habits. It’s January and the water doesn’t freeze, and there are often three or four birds enjoying the water. My one problem so far has been some varmint tipping it over at night, but I put some bricks on the legs and that seems to have cured the problem. I’ll install it more permanently in the spring.
