I absolutely love this DVD!!! I really like the fact that the tropical fish are “up close and personal” with sharp, contrasting backgrounds - it makes them so vibrant and impressive on our HD plasma screen TV. To me it is so much more striking and artistic and beautiful than fish tank scenes that have tons of smaller fish and backgrounds with so many plants and coral and other stuff. I find this DVD and the music that goes with it enormously relaxing and addicting in the best possible way. I have also found that it is very enticing to the younger children in my family who are into Nemo. Gets their attention and then calms them down at nap or bedtime, which if you are a parent or grandparent you can really appreciate. Our cats love this DVD too, although, they just don’t have a very long attention span and prefer real fish!

This Oster stiff grooming brush really lifts the deep dirt and dust in my horse’s coat. I am finding that my horses no longer puff up a cloud of dust when I pat them in the winter (when there is less grooming and NO bathing). I like it ten times better than my old, standard shaped wooden brushes. The ergonomically shaped, padded back makes it much easier to hold and to use. Customer Review: Not Best In Show, But Not Bad
This movie was better than I expected it would be. The script allowed for some genuine character development. The 20’s-somethings who gather on this remote island for a weekend vacation are given a range of sympathetic qualities, some stake in life - so we care about their fates. It’s the dogs who are the real stars of this show though. The close-ups of their intent brown eyes draw you into the canine mind. The producers/director of this film prided themselves on the fact that no computer-generated graphics were used. All the dogs in action are real dogs. Some dogs were Hollywood veterans imported to the site of the film shoot (which was South Africa) with their trainers; others were local dogs enlisted and trained on the spot. The reasons given for the dogs’ aggression in the movie are unfortunately muddled - a defect in the plot line. On the one hand, the young people discover that these dogs are the result of some genetic engineering that seemed to have been wrought on the dogs’ ancestors. But on the other hand, people who are bitten by the dogs soon develop some strange illness, a malaise spotted with outbreaks of rage. This would suggest a viral or bacterial infection that isn’t quite rabies, but that threatens to be a fatal biological time-bomb nonetheless. We are almost led to suspect a transmission of werewolf tendencies, recreating Lon Chaney’s Jr.’s frequent film fate. As impressive as the dogs frequently are, they could have been used to greater effect. Their attacks are too sudden and predictable. There is none of the slowly gathering menace found in “The Birds.” Also, one of the characters is made to pronounce the all-too-trite indictment of any meddling with nature. To the extent that an eccentric uncle’s genetic engineering is held responsible for these dogs’ temperaments, he receives the ultimate reproof - “He was trying to play God!” Oh, if only once biological tinkering was allowed to result in something other than a tragic lesson against hubris. This DVD doesn’t have any Director’s Commentary on it, which was a little disappointing. Since horror mavens Wes Craven and Nick Mastandrea were both involved in the making of this film, it would have been informative to hear their tag-along philosophizing about the genre. However, there is an interesting extra showing how the dogs were trained and made to appear to be crunching into their victims. Hardly any of the human stars of this movie were left unscathed by the rehearsals or actual filmings. The dogs sometimes missed their decoy targets and chomped into real flesh. So the attacks you see are often more fact than fiction. Overall, this movie probably won’t be one of the most memorable you’ll ever watch, but it does have some bite to it.

I am a seventh grade English teacher and every year my classes study a Veterans Day unit. This video teaches an aspect of the humanity of the American soldier that nothing else I can present teaches. This video is compellingly compassionate towards treatment of animals in general, and specifically towards each of the featured dogs and their handlers in Viet Nam. Many of my students weep during the viewing of the video and no matter how many times I show it, I am always moved to tears. This video is so well loved it “disappeared” this year and I am frantic to replace it. I simply cannot teach the Veterans Day unit again without the slant this video provides, demonstrating graphically the emotional toll the dog handlers paid and the homage they continue to pay, these many years later, to the dogs who accompanied them in the jungles of Viet Nam. This video is tremendously AWESOME.

I can’t believe how much my cats like this toy, even the cynical, hardened, I-can’t-be-bothered tomcats. It took me a while to get the hang of making Da Bird fly (once airborne, you can make the feathers quiver and rotate like a fishing lure), but I could play with the kitties for hours, and they’d never tire of it. We now have 15 minutes of play time at least twice a day, and they are sleeping better and squabbling less often — and with 6 cats, that’s an improvement. I have seen some seriously impressive cat acrobats in the last 24 hours, since Da Bird arrived on our doorstep. Most amusing is when they catch it. They get this look on their face (*my* dead bird!) and they trot off to an isolated location (with me trailing behind, holding onto the wand), so they can kill it. When play time is over, I have to hide Da Bird in a closet or they’d never let it rest. Best $10 I EVER spent on my cats. Ever.

I have watched several dog training DVDs and this clearly falls dead last. The video bears little connection to the narrative so you might as well consider it a book on tape. Even then, it will not provide you much practical information on how to train your dog. With the plethora of other options out there, even if they are a bit more expensive, it is worth spending a little more to get something useful.

Boring! All this time is spent during the DVD talking about the John Fisher technique, but not really showing you anything specific. Lots of great video shots of dogs romping about with their owners and shots of classes being conducted, all being voiced over about the ‘great john fisher technique’. Who cares! I didn’t order the video so that I could go look for a trainer who trains with this technique, I ordered it so that I could train my own dog. So little instructional information was given and the video was so boring, me and my dogs fell asleep watching it. What a waste!

I watched this expecting it to be more of a training video. While it provides a dose of training advice it really is a survey of things to consider and prepare for before you get a dog (young or old) and it assumes that when it comes to dogs you are . . . well . . . a dummy. So if you want training, get a DVD dedicated to training. If you need a very basic look at what to expect if you get a dog, narrated by a not overly enthusiastic dog expert, this will do the trick.

Customer Review: Brilliant playing in a variety of styles
It’s easy to understand why most people have never heard of these guys. Our pop culture world has no place for bands that don’t fit an easy to define niche. This album features songs that range from hard funk to hard rock to progressive, jazz influenced jams. Consequently, this is a band that will appeal to those with wide ranging tastes but won’t ever fit into the insipid mass market media that threatens to drown out any truly creative voices. I found ARU much like a previous reviewer noted; by back tracking Jimmy Herring. Though I started with the Phil Lesh and Friends album “There and Back Again” that featured Jimmy and Warren Haynes (Gov’t Mule, Allman Bros)on guitar. This is a set of well produced, well written and well played songs. I hope this won’t be the only effort put out by this particular group of musicians.

A splendid album with great musical interplay and some fine arrangments and to quote the venacular these guys are as tight as a fish”s arse.I would recommend this album.
